The Taj Mahal mausoleum is in Agra, India. It was built by the Mughal emperor 
Shah Johan in memory of his third wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Construction began in 
1631 and involved 1000 elephants, 20,000 workers, with architects and designers from central Asia, India, Turkey, and Persia as well as other regions. The Taj Mahal was constructed using white marble inlaid with twenty eight different types of 
precious and semi-precious stones. There are beautiful gardens including sixteen sunken gardens. The domed roof shape is recognized as the crown of the 
structure.
