Section A Week 46
YOUR ART CLASS FINDS KING TUT
In 1922 archeologists Howard Carter and George Herbert discovered the tomb of King Tutankhamen, King Tut, in Egypt. King Tut became King of Egypt in 1333BC at the age of nine or ten. Most tombs of ancient kings had been vandalized and robbed of all the precious gold, jewels, and artifacts. Carter and Hebert's discovery was so renowned because nothing in the tomb had been touched since he was buried over 3000 years before. There were thousands of artifacts, including the burial mask. In 1922 the King Tut treasures were valued at over $15,000,000. The exhibit toured the USA and I was fortunate enough to go view the exhibit in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1977. Your Art Class can find King Tut's burial mask.
