YOUR ART CLASS WEAVES A RUG

Woven rugs have been around for a long time. Many groups of people who moved from place to place (nomads) used woven rugs under tents on the earth floor. Oriental and Persian rugs are used by many people all over the world to decorate their homes. There are hand knotted rugs, flat weave rugs, Kilim rugs from Turkey, Dhurrie rugs from India, as well as needlepoint rugs from China, and rugs woven by Native Americans. In this lesson Your Art Class will weave a rug using a pencil or a marker, making small strokes to give the effect of weaving.
