YOUR ART CLASS FINDS A SPIRAL NAUTILUS SHELL

If Your Art Class went strolling down the beach and found a beautiful nautilus spiral shell you would find a treasure. Scientists classify the Nautilus shell in the Nautilidae family of Cephalopoda Molluscas. Mathematicians have studied the perfect chambers as well as the perfect shape. There is a center point and the circular spiral shape radiates from there. The chambers help the cephalopod to move. The shell is actually its outside bones. Apparently the outside shell/bone works because the Nautilus shell has been around for at least 500 million years. Although the spiral is a classic shape it is also contemporary.
