Your Art Class is Huffin' with a Puffin
The puffin is an interesting bird that actually spends most of its time swimming, looking for food. It measures about 10 inches tall, loves the cold, and uses its wings for diving and swimming fast. The female lays only one egg a year, so that’s why they are not so plentiful. Also they were once hunted. In 1973 the National Audubon Society promoted “Project Puffin” and brought puffins back to Maine in the USA. Iceland is credited with having the largest population of puffins, but Your Art Class might be huffing when you go to see the puffins because they live in difficult to reach rocky coastal areas.
