Your Art Class Enjoys Hawks and Dragons

Dragonflies are also called mosquito hawks. They are the dragons of the insect world, as they have been around for over 300 million years. They are mosquito hawks because they can eat up to 100 mosquitoes a day. Dragonflies are also called water witches because their young, called nymphs, hatch in the water and arise when they are ready to fly. Dragonflies are also called devil’s arrow because they are fiercely territorial with strong jaws and teeth. In spite of their different names, there are over 3,000 different species of dragonflies. They all have two pair of patterned wings, 3 pair of legs, and two large compound eyes that can see 360 degrees. So whatever you want to call them and make them is up to you.
