Your Art Class Becomes a Butterfly Masquerade

Some students of Your Art Class wanted to make masks that were all the same but yet different. The occasion was Mardi Gras and the class was a rehab facility right off the parade route in the heart of New Orleans, Louisiana. We made butterfly masks and each person’s was decorated differently. The students made a wonderful showing to the parade riders and were showered with Mardi Gras “Throws” and beads galore. So after making the individual masks we made masks to represent the group. Students loved adding the eyes, nose, mouth, chin and hair. This was such a fun project.  I only wish I would have taken pictures of Your Art Class students wearing their masks!
