Your Art Class Goes Round the Color Wheel

Sir Isaac Newton (1642-1726) is the famous scientist who discovered gravity. He also studied the motion of planets, the tides, and was a natural philosopher. Sir Isaac Newton also came up with the color wheel that artists, designers, and color experts use today. Newton discovered how a prism separated white light into the color spectrum starting with red, to orange, to yellow, to green, to blue, to violet or purple, to red. There are many colors that fall in between. Many color wheels have inner circles where white is added to the colors to create a tint of the colors and an inner circle where black is added to create a shade of each color
