Series D Week 8

Your Art Class Eats Cake

This lesson is about the wonderful Mardi Gras treat, King Cake. "Twelfth Night" is when the first King Cakes are served, starting the Mardi gras season. The King cake is generally decorated with Mardi Gras colors: purple, green and gold. Purple stands for justice, gold for faith, and gold is forever. A plastic baby (or some other trinket) is hidden within the cake. When it is served, the tradition is that whoever gets the baby, hosts the next Mardi Gras King Cake party. Many different bakeries make king cakes and people compare which king cake is the best. I like the traditional cinnamon, coffee cake type king cake.
