The zinnia is a flowering plant that is an "annual" that grows from seed and lasts a year. Zinnias come in different sizes and many different colors and combinations of colors. There are single zinnias with a single row of petals around a visible center. The double zinnias have numerous rows of petals with no visible center. The semi double zinnias have a slight visible center and several rows of petals. In Montrose, Alabama every spring a wonderful man with a tree farm on Hwy 13 plants rows of all kinds of zinnias along the highway and it such a wonderful drive to enjoy when they are blooming with butterflies fluttering around and landing on the colorful flowers. So Your Art Class can flutter on to zinnia to in celebration of the renewal of spring.
